KAROONDA FARM FAIR

'Experience the Heart of the Murraylands'

Keith farmer Dean Dunsford reports;
“I went to the Karoonda Farm Fair for the first time in 2009.  I was merely a passenger as my wife Adair was helping to staff the Women in Agriculture and Business stand.  I was therefore free to roam the Fair for the day and found that the format of the Fair allows for the entire Fair to be easily explored in one day.  The major crop on my property is Malting Barley and I have been direct drilling it for a number of years.  However, the crops have suffered with rhizoctonia root disease, affecting yields.  After receiving advice from Primary Industries at the Karoonda Farm Fair I changed seeding points and noticed a marked increase in yields with much less rhizoctonia.  So not only was my day at the Karoonda Farm Fair enjoyable due to the friendly atmosphere of the field day but it also proved profitable.”

Will be held on Friday March 26th 9am - late & Saturday 27th 9am - 5pm

The Karoonda Farm Fair is an annual 2-day event showcasing local, state and interstate farming and general interest products, services and events. Based at Karoonda in the heart of the Murray Mallee region, the field day is centrally located and enjoys a broad visitor base from throughout South Australia, as well as interstate.

With over 350 exhibitors each year, the field day attracts crowds of around 10 – 12,000 over the two days. The Farm Fair focuses on agriculture and associated industries with local produce becoming a real feature of the field day in ‘The  Lifestyle Pavilion’.

Besides the great line up of businesses displaying a vast array of products, we also have many interesting entertainment events during the Field Days e.g:

  • Karoonda Yard Dog Championship,
  • Sheep Counting
  • Speed and Sports Shearing
  • Mallee Millions Sheep Races
  • Fashion Parades
  • Yester Year Display.

A larger Lifestyle Pavilion will cater for all indoor exhibitors and will include clothing, craft, computing, children’s toys, gardening products. Also included will be Education & Government Depts. finance advice, health departments and alternative industries throughout the Murraylands region.

Regular exhibitors to the Karoonda Farm Fair often remark how friendly and co-operative the “Mallee” people are.  We extend this same hospitality to all new exhibitors and look forward to your participation at the 2009  Karoonda Farm Fair.
