Our core purpose
To promote and showcase the Murraylands region, encourage community spirit and pride and to promote community organisations with an avenue for fund raising.
Our history
The Karoonda Farm Fair began in 1985 as the Karoonda Sheep Fair. It has since grown to an event that now has a wider appeal and attracts more than 7,000 people annually.
Our structure
The Karoonda Farm Fair is a legally incorporated body established in 1985. The Karoonda Farm Fair has an ABN and is registered for GST.
The Karoonda Farm Fair committee comprises approximately 15 members, with representatives from:
- Karoonda Agricultural Bureau
- Ettrick Agricultural Bureau
- The General Public
- Karoonda East Murray Council
A number of sub-committees with an appointed Convenor, oversee and manage various attractions of the Farm Fair. These sub-committees are:
- Fashion Parade
- Yard Dog Display
- Shearing
- Ram Disply
- Children's Entertainment
- Lifestyle
- Promotions
- Wool
- Photogrpahy
The Convenors of these sub-committees have been selected for their organisational skills and attributes relevant to the position.
An Executive Committee of the Farm Fair provides day to day direction and the full committee meets monthly to review progress and report on sub-committee activities.
Fund utilisation
100% of all sponsorship funds will be allocated to the ongoing improvement of the Karoonda Farm Fair as a whole and/or individual program events, as negotiated.
All profits from this event are distributed back into the local rural community.
